Alternative garden

I notice (Irish Examiner, Apr 7), that Mr Diarmuid Gavin’s hanging garden is to go ahead in our lovely Fitzgerald’s Park.

To complete this project, and to restore the park subsequently, could cost in excess of €1m. The people of Cork should be aware that the gardens in Fota, which are cared for by the OPW, are internationally renowned, and open to the public 362 days per year, free of charge.

I know of nowhere else in the world where such quality gardens are open for free.
