Cutting RTÉ London office a scandal

Spare a thought for Pat Kenny, Joe Duffy and all the other rich people at RTÉ, they will now have to ‘rub by’ on salaries between just ten and fifteen times the national average wage. God help the rich, the poor can beg! Miriam meets people like herself, and Joe Duffy exposes the things nobody wanted exposed.

The Late Late Show is indeed ‘late’ having been killed off by Pat Kenny. RTÉ’s ‘light entertainment’ would be classified as torture by Amnesty International if anyone could be bothered to watch it.

So how did the national broadcaster manage to get itself into such a state that the London office has to be closed? All of the above we can still tolerate, but the London office, of all RTÉ’s services, has to close? What an unadulterated scandal.

The arrogance that saw the salary scale in RTÉ bulge faster and wider than Frank Dunlop’s ‘donation’ bag is a most under-examined area of Irish life.

I wonder if Miriam might meet me on her show to explore this issue.

I would also love a chance to get on the ‘Live Line’ to explore the size of Joe Duffy’s salary, even after the cuts, but I will not hold my breath.

Maybe a Frontline special could explore the scandal of RTÉ’s debt, and the fundamental failure to hold the corrupt to account for all those years?

I can’t see it, can you?

Because, as we all know, RTÉ is a Really Terrible Entity.
