Failing the science test

THIS letter is written in response to a statement made by Taoiseach Enda Kenny.

Failing the science test

He said at the opening of the BT Young Scientist competition: “Science and technology is where it’s at for the future.” If science and technology “is where it’s at for the future”, then why is science not compulsory for the junior certificate? Business is another subject that is not compulsory. Hundreds of thousands of jobs in Ireland are created through science and business.
