Disgrace to democracy

TO those TDs who publicly have stated they will not pay the €100 household charge and are calling on other citizens to do likewise, I say they are a disgrace to our democratic process and to their own constituents.

What they are doing by their proposal is sending out a message to the general public to only obey those laws that you feel are in your interest and disobey any other. Is there a time to break the law — in the spirit of Doctor Martin Luther King and Mahatma Gandhi and others?

Yes, but only after certain steps have been followed and adhered to.
