Shocking lack of regulation in building sector

THE ongoing controversy in the Priory Hall development again highlights to us all the very bad lack of regulation in the building sector.

Nearly three decades ago while moving from the north to the south and after serving my time as a carpenter in the building trade I was even shocked then by the absence of what we in the North called, the “Clerk of Works”. This was a highly qualified professional builder who daily spent his time inspecting other craftsmen’s work pointing out as he went along the building errors of tradesmen.
