Cultural mix-up

IT was with great interest that I followed the re-announcement of the “Gathering” as a “tangible outcome from the Global Irish Economic Forum.

Minister Varadkar explained the concept of hosting this event in 2012 was scrapped as they didn’t want to be seen to be competing with big events such as Derry’s City of Culture. The problem is Derry City of Culture is 2013.

!If the minister is not au fait with the ‘small detail’ of the year can we in the North West expect any return from such a significant designation to our region? !
