THAT ex-Irish Nationwide chief executive Michael Fingleton has refused to return his €1 million bonus is an absolute disgrace.

Adding insult to injury, we now have the spectacle of personal expenses which, by any standard, are bizarre in the extreme.

Anglo Irish Bank described the €88,000 expenses as “suspect”. They include bills of €12,180 for dental work while still chief executive of the ill-fated building society, plus €48,000 spent at the K Club hotel and golf resort, not to mention €2,600 for a two-night stay at London’s plush Dorchester Hotel for himself and his wife after he left the company in 2009.
