Curb power of ECB

LEFT to themselves, banks, including the ECB — which had oversight of all EU banks — made a complete hames of the EU economy in the current crisis, not to say the lives of many of its citizens.

Why on earth would we let the ECB have effective control over EU economic policy now?

The EU needs to let inflation pressures take a back seat to the overwhelming interest to reduce the overhanging morass of banking and sovereign debt by the twin expedients of writing off some and bankrolling some and retaining around a quarter for us others to carry.
