Commemorating the fallen fire fighting heroes of 9/11

THERE will be a special commemoration of the 343 firemen who died in 9/11 in Kinsale today.

This will take place at the Garden of Remembrance at Ringfinnan, which holds a tree bearing the name of each of the dead. This was provided by the late Kathleen Murphy whose death in March will be marked by the planting of a tree in her memory.

The civic ceremonies will begin at 2.30pm followed by Mass at 3pm and it is hoped that there will be a big turnout by those who would like to show solidarity with the victims of 9/11, especially the 343 New York firemen. The garden is located at Ringfinnan on the road from Kinsale to the Old Head.
