WHILE I don’t like the wearing of the burqa, I think any woman who wishes to wear it should do so without interference or criticism.

Councillor Joe O’Callaghan’s motion regarding both is totally unhelpful and repugnant to any citizen living in a Republic who values an individual’s right to wear what they want. It would be disgusting to think that our public representatives would ever legislate for what a person can or cannot wear; to do so is the first step on the road to totalitarianism.
