Nothing wrong with wearing burqas or hoodies

WHILE I don’t like the wearing of the burqa, I think any woman who wishes to wear it should do so without interference or criticism.

Similarly, even as someone who has worn a hoodie from time to time, I have never felt the sudden urge to go riot and commit arson.

Councillor Joe O’Callaghan’s motion regarding both is totally unhelpful and repugnant to any citizen living in a Republic who values an individual’s right to wear what they want. It would be disgusting to think that our public representatives would ever legislate for what a person can or cannot wear; to do so is the first step on the road to totalitarianism.
