Public services vital

THE decision by Tim Lucey to allow the sale of Cork city’s waste refuge to be sold to a private operator is one which I deeply oppose.

Key industries should be kept in public hands, especially when the well-being of a city depends on it.

If the private company wants to compete, let them but alongside the city, not monopolise the industry itself without proper healthy competition.
