Public services vital
Key industries should be kept in public hands, especially when the well-being of a city depends on it.
If the private company wants to compete, let them but alongside the city, not monopolise the industry itself without proper healthy competition.
But what makes this worse is that his brief allows him to make this decision by executive control, thus our elected representatives become eunuchs in the face of the undemocratic managerial system.
The undemocratic nature of the whole thing is only another bitter pill to be exposed to outside of the loss of the service from public control.
