Put a stop to orgy of bonuses and excessive pay

IF only Enda Kenny was Taoiseach and the Government had a thumping great majority, then I’m sure he would pass emergency legislation to put a stop to the orgy of bonuses, allowances, excessive pensions and salaries across every single sector of the public sector.

It would be inconceivable that a Fine Gael Taoiseach and Minister for Finance would be in office nearly four months and wouldn’t have asked for the details of every single remuneration package for every single person on the public payroll above €50,000. I thought working in the public sector was meant to be about serving your country, not matching your income to the private sector. It would be interesting to see when the Government asked the AG for legal advice about stopping these payments how the question was phrased, was it: ’Tell us why we can’t stop them?’ or ‘Tell us how we can stop them?’?
