Assets belong to people

I AGREE with Michael Mernagh that there should not be a sell-off of state assets.

The interests of the Irish people will be put way behind the interests of private profit, most of which may go to foreign countries. There is another reason why the Government should not sell off assets. The country’s assets were either a gift of nature to Ireland, or they have been obtained from the labour or the money of the people. This means that they belong to the people as a whole, not to a government.
