Let’s keep Irish alive

I AM writing to bring to light the issue of Irish becoming an optional subject at second level.

Let’s keep Irish alive

I am 15 and currently studying for my Junior Cert. Personally, I would see it as a terrible shame to see our native language disappear. I accept the Leaving Cert is no mean feat for any student, but of all subjects, why choose Irish to eliminate?

This issue has been in my mind ever since Taoiseach Enda Kenny put it forward. I realise it has been put to rest for a while, which is why I envisage an opportunity to extinguish any chance that exists of our language becoming a thing of the past.
