Timely refreshment, but at what cost?

IT was with great interest that I read B. Lewis’s letter (April 21) regarding subsidised local authority canteens.

Timely refreshment, but at what cost?

As a public servant myself, I am in the unfortunate situation of being unable to pay €25 per week for break time refreshments and a chauffeur.

One must therefore conclude that wage costs in the private sector are excessively high.

However, I must commend his ability to satisfy his quest for refreshments in such a short space of time from his city centre starting point.

Assuming that he does it in the ten to fifteen minutes of break time which is afforded to most public servants, of course.
