Who pays for these training schemes?

PERHAPS you could clear up some points for me regarding the many training schemes on offer from Fás as I now find myself unemployed.

Who pays for these training schemes?

My dilemma began when I applied for a training scheme.

The training was based in Tralee. It would mean travelling 140 miles per day.

I felt it would build up my confidence, which was beginning to waiver since becoming unemployed.

I was informed that I would receive €34 per week travelling expenses. So my question is, are these people for real?

I was also told that there was a “free bus” at one time for FÁS in Cork for those of us wishing to avail of some training schemes, however that luxury has since been cancelled. So, what I would like to know is where do the funds for these training courses come from?

It is apparent that those in charge have little or no regard for those unemployed who are trying to better themselves.

In other words, if you want people to take advantage of these courses, you must first put in place a reasonable allowance and not expect those of us who are trying to do something to keep our sanity, to fund it ourselves from the unemployment benefit we receive.

If this country is to move forward, you must help those who have been less fortunate and get us out of the gutter which is slowly suffocating all of us.
