Tara area belongs in heritage department

ONE of the great mysteries of the M3 motorway was why they were so insistent and went to so much trouble to put it through an pristine archaeological landscape of the Gahra valley.

Tara area belongs in heritage department

We couldn’t find the smoking gun, land purchases that would explain this decision.

Now we know. Coillte owns Rath Lugh and the forestry area that surrounds it, right on the motorway, If we sell Coillte, this company will have the right to sell this land on.

The question remains. What is so valuable at Rath Lugh? If there is something of value there, it should benefit the people of Meath and the Irish people.

Now this might be all conspiracy theory, but I am sure most people in Ireland would agree that the Rath Lugh and surrounding forests belong more in the heritage department than in Coillte.

I am sure our new TDs agree that all land owned by Coillte within the Tara landscape area should be transferred to the Department of Heritage before any sale of Coillte.
