Damage has already been done
Six ministers have resigned from government this week at a time when the IMF, EU and the world in general are watching aghast at Ireland’s continuing demise due to the incompetence of this farcical government. This, only weeks after the self-proclaimed “republican party” surrendered our economic independence to the IMF and the EU and eliminated any chance of reunification of this country. These ex-ministers will receive up to €300,000 per year in pensions on their retirement.
Fianna Fáil have consistently put the party before the country and the people. For example, Mary Hanafin has said that Brian Cowen was suitable to remain as Taoiseach but not as leader of Fianna Fáil. No doubt next week we will see this hypocrisy continue when Fianna Fáil TDs who voted against Cowen as leader of Fianna Fáil will vote confidence in him to remain as Taoiseach of this country. Cowen is out of touch with reality and the mood of the people and his plans to offer the vacant ministerial posts as sweeteners to other cronies in order to raise their profiles was the last straw and akin to moving around deckchairs on the Titanic. Fianna Fáil continue to frantically fill the multitudes of state boards and useless quangos with their cronies. The only good thing out of all this is that we will never again see some of these failed politicians in positions of power. Unfortunately it is years too late and the damage has been done, with tens of thousands of our families already forced into emigration.
