Maureen Fox has left legacy of love and goodness to many
For so long her weekly pages were enjoyed by so many, so full of humour and interest.
It was through her great love for humans and animals that I first met her. I was involved in Adapt, an organisation for deserted and alone parents, though I was happily married myself.
She introduced me to a very special Santa Claus who did want not to be named. Every year he made the most fantastic toys — dolls’ houses, garages, farm yards, all fitted completely and then passed on to the children of the children I first gave them to.
As well as that, thanks to the many women who baked cakes and sent them to the then Cork Examiner, who kindly delivered them to me as well as other toys. I was able to go around to a number of homes to help make their Christmas a little better.
There must be very few people who did so much good in their lives and left such a legacy of love and goodness to those in need.
I would like to send my deepest sympathy to her daughter and sister.
