Thank God for a farsighted campaigner

AS the parent of a child with cystic fibrosis (CF) I was horrified at the terrifying plight of these sufferers aired on RTÉ’s Liveline radio programme.

Thank God for a farsighted campaigner

My son will attend CUH as an adult patient in the next four years, so it was with a huge sense of relief that I read (Irish Examiner, October 8) about the new adult CF clinic which will be ready next February with the protected beds following shortly afterwards.

I thank God Joe Browne had the foresight, 12 years before his son will attend the adult clinic in Cork, to raise funds for CF sufferers through the build4life charity.

By developing these facilities for CF patients attending CUH, he has literally extended the lives of all CF adults who will attend CUH.

I and my family are extremely grateful to Mr Browne and all in the build4life charity.

All our CF patients owe him a debt of gratitude.
