Put the ‘celebrity economists’ in charge

I NEVER cease to be shocked by the waffle most ministers come out with most of the time on the airwaves.

Put the ‘celebrity economists’ in charge

I exclude Mary O’Rourke and perhaps a few others .

The vast majority of them have no qualification in economics and they are still bowing to the elite who have brought this country to its knees, to the detriment of the majority.

Failing there being a general election in the morning and given that, as they say, “we are where we are”, I would love to see the many faceless people in the Department of Finance who act as government advisers replaced, at least for the present, by the many so-called celebrity economists and economic commentators.

I’m talking here about David McWilliams, Morgan Kelly, Brendan Keenan, Fintan O’Toole, Peter Mathews, Shane Ross, George Lee, Brian Lucey and Dan O’Brien, with all of whom I find myself nodding in agreement.

Add to this mix the opinions of Labour’s finance spokesperson Joan Burton and Fine Gael’s Richard Bruton. Meanwhile, let the gardaí continue their investigations into the banking scandal and I’d be very confident we can all move forward positively at the least (but still exorbitant) cost to the taxpayer.
