Salary leaders

WITH a severe budget looming that will see hardship across the country to resemble the depressing 1950s, I find it amazing that Taoiseach Brian Cowen sleeps easy in his bed knowing his comfort zone pay packet will continue to give him sweet dreams.

Salary leaders

Will someone in Ireland please explain why Mr Cowen is paid considerably more than the British prime minister. Britain is quickly approaching 60 million population compared with the Republic’s 4.7 million. Does this not suggest the Irish people are paying a very high price for the services of their leader.

There are also too many TDs for such a small country.
