Salary leaders
Will someone in Ireland please explain why Mr Cowen is paid considerably more than the British prime minister. Britain is quickly approaching 60 million population compared with the Republic’s 4.7 million. Does this not suggest the Irish people are paying a very high price for the services of their leader.
There are also too many TDs for such a small country.
To put it in perspective, the Australian parliament operates with fewer elected representatives.
It’s high time Ireland redrafted its constitution. For far too long the country has been run by too many overpaid chiefs and not enough Indians.
