We all need to take a hard look at ourselves

THE fuss over Ivor Callely’s expenses made my blood boil.

The reality is that top civil servants and ministers are disgustingly overpaid and self-protected.

Until this regime is broken, the nation will continue to tumble downhill. During the Celtic Tiger years, this ‘jobs for the boys’ situation’ was funny. Now it is sad. For years we blamed the English. Next we blamed the church and then the banks. Why don’t we as a nation simply invest in a big mirror?
