Name fit for an airport

I RECOMMEND that Dublin airport be renamed Lemass Airport Dublin in recognition of the huge contribution Seán Lemass made to the development of aviation in Ireland and specifically towards the growth and great success of Dublin airport.

Name fit for an airport

Lemass’s achievements over a long and outstanding career were unique and reflect the focus and determination of a man with extraordinary vision.

In his lifetime he is on record as saying, when pressed, that he would like to be remembered as having founded Aer Lingus in 1936. He was, however, being typically modest as he had a very strong impact on all areas of Ireland’s outstanding progress over decades. It was Lemass who initiated Ireland’s entry into the EEC, which led directly to the great prosperity of our country.
