Greens have nowhere to hide this time

THE publication of the two reports into the banking crisis means next week’s vote of confidence in the Taoiseach is in fact a vote on the economic stewardship of successive FF/PD governments.

Greens have nowhere to hide this time

A review of Dáil debates back then shows the Greens opposed the economic policies of these governments, and the reports validate much of their criticism.

The Greens now have a chance to put principle before party. Will they remain true to the position they held when in opposition or will the perks of office see them retrospectively endorse FF/PD economic policies? No doubt Green spokespersons will say they will vote confidence in the Taoiseach because they have confidence in the policies of this Government and will try to distance themselves from the failures of the past. The Greens have nowhere to hide this time.
