Don’t close resort bathing area – fix it

I WAS disgusted to read (Irish Examiner, June 3) that a bathing spot in Youghal, Co Cork, has been closed to the public because a pathway to the area is in disrepair and could cause people to trip. Well, fix it.

The idea that an unrailed catwalk was one of the reasons for the closure would be laughable if it wasn’t so serious.

Also, two viewing areas have been closed for a long time and it makes that area look very shabby. Youghal has many good thing going for it, especially its magnificent beach. Local officials should be doing their utmost to promote the town – but I don’t belief that’s the case. There are many towns that would love to have Youghal’s natural attractions. Maintenance work along the beach area should be prioritised to maximise the town’s huge potential .
