SO working pensioner politicians are allowed to donate their pensions to charity instead of foregoing what they are not morally entitled to.

No one else, not even bankers, can do this. Who will select the charities to benefit from these gestures? The politicians themselves? If so, we would all suspect a fiddle. Surely, it would be possible for a cross-party committee to set up a group and get charitable status for it to help with the difficulties these people will have to shoulder? What about the ISPPRWP (Irish Society for Poverty Prevention of Retired Working Politicians)?
