AS WE settle into 2010, the Government assures us “the worst is over” and we have “turned the corner”.

FF has a lot to fear from slump inquiry

This belief that we have some breathing space removes one of Fianna Fáil’s stated objections to an inquiry into the causes of the financial crisis.

At the very least we need an inquiry into the relationships between Fianna Fáil, the upper echelons of the civil service, leading bankers and property developers. It would be interesting to know what advice the Government received from the Department of Finance and if this was acted upon or ignored.
