Elderly should berate relatives – not councils

WHILE winter is always a hard time for some elderly people, it annoys me to hear them scolding their local council about burst pipes, etc. They should instead be admonishing their own families for leaving them cold and alone.

However, long-absent relatives are never scarce when wills are being read. Such people could assuage their consciences (if they have them) by donating money to groups like Age Action and senior citizens associations which do so much for their shamefully abandoned elderly relatives.
