The new decade - Very happy new year

MUCH of the last decade was as enjoyable and as fulfilling as anyone could wish. Then reality called.

The last two years, especially the one just ended, were distressing for far too many people. Too many jobs were lost, too many hopes and dreams were destroyed by wishful thinking and unconscionable leadership.

Anger, division, self-interest and bitterness became more prominent than is healthy.

We will spend the early part of this new decade trying to repair the damage rooted in the insanities of the early part of the old decade.

But in this, there is great opportunity. We can build a new Republic to embody all of the great principles of humanism and generosity, of equity and human dignity, we can all be proud of. As we all wish each other a happy new year, what better way would there be to put flesh on that age-old evocation?
