Begin with the banks

THE Government has now set its sights on competitiveness in the various semi-state bodies.

May I suggest that it could start with something in which it has aquired a huge stake in the past year or so — the banks.

They are still charging personal and business customers high rates on the money these same people gave them as taxpayers.

It is time the Government used its stake in the banks to ensure their uncompetitiveness ends.
