Fitting farewell

I WISH to congratulate you on a beautifully written editorial on Liam Clancy (‘Fine man you were’, December 5). It brought out his importance to Ireland, and the Clancy Brothers to us all, in the 1960s.

He was a great storyteller with perfect diction and interpreted each song so succinctly.

He lived in Waterford in the 1960s and when the Clancy Brothers were back from the US we had some great sessions in a pub in Dunmore East.

I mourn Liam’s death — he is a great loss to our country.
