Remember to remember - Just the card

TODAY we report on a sunshine holiday postcard that took 17 years to reach its destination. Imagine the joy and surprise of the recipient – Dinny O’Regan – when the card his then teenage daughters, Val and Helaine, sent to him while on holiday in Corfu, in 1992, arrived at his home in Cork city in recent days.

It would have reminded him of an earlier time in his life. It would reminded him of the children his daughters once were and he would have been reminded that even as they enjoyed themselves in Corfu he was in their thoughts.

As Christmas begins to swamp us all maybe we should all remember the joy of being remembered. And though they may be a chore we should remember the joy a Christmas card from absent loved ones or friends can bring. Remember them all, send the cards.
