Out in the cold

MY wife and I made a special bus trip to Cork last Monday to see the Christmas lights in Bishop Lucey Park.

At 4.30pm we could not believe our eyes when we saw the notice on the gate.

Open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday only, it seems.

There was a constant stream of people arriving at the gates and more than one family with young children was disappointed.

What a ridiculous situation. Why was it not made clear that the beautiful display in the park could be seen only on three days of the week. Do the authorities think people only shop in the city at weekends?

We are a retired couple who think we should leave weekend shopping to younger families whose parents have to work during the week.

Can anything be done to open the park on every day of the week?
