Why shopping outside this state is not treason

On the day of the recent public sector strike I went to Wales to buy double glazing and guttering for my house. I tried to source it in Ireland but could buy it much cheaper in Britain. The VAT that I saved paid for the ferry.

When I collected the guttering I was told it was made in Cork, but the price I was quoted locally was twice the British price, excluding VAT.
