US hypocrisy over release of terrorist

I CAN fully understand that the relatives and friends of those who were killed in the Lockerbie terrorist bombing would suffer anguish and a sense of extreme injustice when Abdelbaset al-Megrahi was released from prison on compassionate grounds. I can also understand why they would want to attack those who released Megrahi.

US hypocrisy over release of terrorist

However, I do not understand how official America, through FBI director Robert Mueller, can moralise about a “mockery of the rule of law and of the victims’ grief ” and “giving comfort to terrorists around the world” when he attacked those who made the decision to release Megrahi.

The US, after all, is a country that used terrorists recruited by Osama bin Laden to fight the Russians in Afghanistan and the Serbs in Bosnia, imprisoned people for years without trial, used torture, and rained down bombs and rockets on Iraq and Afghanistan killing thousands, if not tens of thousands, of innocent people.
