No time for loungers

IN response to Noel Cashman (Letters, July 10), it would be contrary to my nature to support anyone who never worked, particularly if they deliberately avoided it. Mr Cashman misread what I wrote (Letters, July 7).

No time for loungers

He needs to acknowledge that the present system confines many to poorly paid, irregular work while others are more generously facilitated in acquiring good work, and therefore assets.

I reiterate that I have no respect for loungers and would never support them.

I simply believe social welfare should be fairer to those who were never allowed a chance to afford assets, despite spending years in poorly paid work from which they cannot always escape.
