Anti-Catholic bigots jump on the bandwagon

I’M sure most of the outrage resulting from the Ryan report on institutional child abuse is genuine.

Nevertheless, there are worrying signs that it is being used by anti-Catholic bigots to advance their intolerant agendas.

Particularly offensive are the efforts to enlist the state as some kind of anti-Catholic enforcer.

I have news for these people.

The state is largely dependent for its survival on its citizens and difficult though it may be to believe, many of us are papists (and proud of it).

We’ve also had the usual condescending sneering from elements of the British media at the church-dominated Paddys.

A bit rich coming from a society in which institutional child abuse is rampant and many of the state childcare institutions in London were virtually wound down in the 1980s when infiltrated by predatory homosexuals.

Am I alone in noticing that this significant aspect is virtually ignored by the Irish media?

And some of the contributions in the Seanad revealed that anti-Catholic bigotry is alive and well. Many thanks to senators Norris, Bacik and O’Toole for revealing their true colours.
