Don’t believe the media – FF is the victim of a concerted campaign

I DON’T believe Fianna Fáil is going to get the beating at the polls today predicted by the media. Remember 2007 when the media told us Bertie Ahern was being heckled all over the country.

We all know what happened next. And the media was directly responsible for scaring the people into rejecting the Lisbon Treaty, which we would all put through today given half a chance.

Are people blind to the concerted media campaign against FF and the Government – the same media that told us we were all going to die from swine flu a few weeks back and that the HSE was ill-equipped to cope with it?

“Truth in the news” was it? No, the bottom line these days is sensationalism. Good news doesn’t sell. Bad news does. Misery loves company.

The media needs to create these little emergencies to keep us all buying their products and looking at their propaganda like the scary anti-government stuff Fine Gael’s George Lee put out at the taxpayers’ expense before he openly displayed his political colours.

People shouldn’t swallow everything they read or hear.

Where’s swine flu today? Where’s the bird flu? Where’s the flesh-eating bug? Where’s the deadly foot and mouth disease that cost the country millions? The media would love a general election (after only two years since the last one), but would it do the country any good? Incidentally, I am not a member of any political party.
