ESB charges much more than it will pay for power

ESB feed-in tariffs are dismal and not at all enticing for people to invest in wind or solar energy.

The ESB proposes to pay a rate of 19c/kwh for the first 4,000 installations for micro-generation and 9c/kwh after that.

This rate is one of the lowest in Europe. Germany and Austria are paying 46c, Italy 55c and France 56c.
