Gardaí in conference - Motivation questioned

NOTHING ever stays the same and work and management practices evolve relentlessly.

However, yesterday’s claims at the Garda Representative Association (GRA) conference that a new corporate culture in An Garda Síochána means many senior officers are more driven by self-interest than serving the community should cause us all pause for thought.

GRA president Michael O’Boyce questioned the “vocational loyalty” of some officers. Let us hope he is mistaken because this society has more than enough problems without a cloud of suspicion hanging over some gardaí.
