Celtic cubs are victims of the great ‘Celtic con’

IN relation to the budget just announced this week, I would like to point out a number of misgivings. As a member of the 25 to 35-year-old generation whom became to be known as the “Celtic cubs” I believe we are more aptly to be known in the future as the “Celtic cons”.

Celtic cubs are victims of the great ‘Celtic con’

We are the generation whom paid way over what was either reasonable or just in order to obtain an exorbitantly priced home driven by the banks and property developers primarily and backed to the hilt by Government.

We are the generation who are paying 30 and 40-year mortgages for very modest houses. We are the generation who are living hand to mouth in order to survive. We are the generation who are first to suffer the consequences of the downturn being in many cases the first to be left go from our employment. We are the generation who cannot afford to provide for our pensions in the future as we are paying such large mortgages and will be until retirement age anyway.

In relation to those of us lucky enough to have a job we are the generation expected to pay for the mess we now find ourselves in and as announced in the budget we will be the generation who have to sign a blank cheque to the banks and property speculators in relation to the amalgamation of the bad debts of the banks.

It seems the Government is merely the banks’ puppet but my generation is certainly not enjoying the show.
