Creighton a contender

I BELIEVE that recent criticisms of Lucinda Creighton were far too harsh.

Creighton has contributed quite well to the Fine Gael party in her role as European Affairs spokesperson, in addition to her work as a TD.

It should be noted that Creighton became a prominent TD and spokesperson for Fine Gael at the young age of 27, which is no small feat and is a veritable sign of her abilities.

Liam Cosgrave, Bertie Ahern, John Bruton and Brian Cowen all became TDs also in their 20s and later all became Taoisigh due in no small part to the benefit of gaining many years of Dáil experience at a relatively young age.

On that basis, it could well be true that Creighton, in additional to other young TDs like Leo Varadkar, will be a contender for leader of Fine Gael 15 to 25 years from now.
