Hobson’s choice

OUR political masters are pulling the wool over our eyes again with the Bord Gais electricity deal.

By artificially inflating the cost of electricity supplied by the ESB, the energy ‘regulator’ has facilitated so-called competition in the market.

If the ESB had been encouraged to charge a fair price for its electricity there would be no need for this sleight of hand and the consumer would be spared the trouble of switching supplier.
