Two-tier justice

LET’S call a spade a spade.

If a low-ranking employee gets caught with his fingers in the till, he or she will be handed the P45 with the real prospect of a prison sentence and little chance of getting another job.

In contrast, when one of the top brass in our banking system is caught shuffling around millions of euro to evade auditors and regulators, we still have no assurance that he won’t have the luxury of resigning with a golden handshake and a huge pension.
