IN his letter (December 1), Dick Barton mentioned that Bertie Ahern spent about €20,000 a year on makeup and that nobody seemed duly upset by this.

Maybe if you compare this with Tony Blair’s annual makeup costs, which amounted to €257, the message might hit home.
