Home economics

FOR those of you who must grudgingly make your way through evening rush hour, spare a thought for the forgotten souls working from home.

Home economics

It can look like the ideal solution, flexible working hours and time with the family, but do not forget the negative aspects of working from home — social isolation, anonymity, heat and light bills and the cruellest cut of all, no free coffee.

The Government needs to take a look at this increasing trend and put measures in place that do not penalise those working from home.

You can be subject to benefit-in-kind on a work phone in your own home and use of a work PC is not allowed after the working day is complete, but you cannot get tax relief on the additional expense incurred through working all day in your own home.

We need to change to survive, but those who need to change fastest are not reacting at all.
