Therefore, it is a cause for minor celebration that the parties have reached an accommodation that brings five months of deadlock to an end.

The power-sharing executive can now begin to confront the issues that have an immediate impact on the North and its struggling economy. An agreement has been reached on policing and it is hoped that it can be put in place without further disagreement or delay.
