Easing demand on water systems

IT’S hard to credit in this rain-sodden country that we are going to have water shortages in the years ahead.

Despite a year of almost non-stop rainfall, scientists and weather experts are predicting much drier times as the century progresses, particularly for eastern areas, due to climate change. There are proposals to pipe water from the River Shannon to Dublin, for instance.
