Democracy of fools

WE are experiencing the worst financial crisis since Christ put the moneychangers out of the Temple.

And where were our great leaders? At ploughing matches, football matches and race meetings. They didn’t really have to make a laugh of themselves because ever since Haughey, Burke, Lawlor, Lowry, Bertie, et al, they have been good for a laugh anyway.

But still they use our money to pay others to ask us why Lisbon was lost. Bet you never thought we’d end up in a democracy of fools. I didn’t.
